When Meg's son was born in the spring of 2005, she became frustrated with hooded towels.
Without any space but the floor, or her arms to place it, she had difficulty coordinating moving her
delicate newborn from bath to towel. There had to be a better way. After searching the market
with no success, Meg designed her bath apron. She loved it so much that she wanted to make one
for an expectant friend of hers. The friend loved hers, too, and asked Meg to make more for her to
give. Swaddles bath aprons were born!

 

Meg liked the idea that the bath apron literally allowed you to swaddle your baby. Her son had
become very fond of after bath “snuggles.” In fact, he automatically started to cuddle her upon
removal from the tub! That‘s why she chose the name Swaddles. Swaddle, for swaddling, and
waddles, for all those rubber duckies!

 

The logo was easy, insomuch as Meg knew it would be about a mama and a baby duck. In its initial
stages, a mama duck with babies following was suggested. Meg wanted the logo to capture the
moments between a mother and a single child however, so the logo eventually featured just one
baby. A mother bird’s instinct to protect her young had a profound influence on the logo’s design.

 

The poem was written when Meg gifted her first bath apron. It occurred to her that nobody would
know what a bath apron was, and given the setting of a room full of women cooing over baby gifts,
she figured a poem would be the easiest explanation! Since then, the poem has become a standard
part of Swaddles products.

Here is a new bath apron, made with lots of love,
put it on to carry your newborn to the tub.
Then when it’s time to dry them, swaddle them so snug,
wrapped up in this apron, safely cuddled in your hug!
Then as they get older, apron swaddles they’ll outgrow,
but put this apron on to shield from little splashing toes.
